" How many Times must a Man look up before he sees the Sky ?
How many Ears must one Man have Before he can Hear People Cry?
How many Deaths will it take till he Knows that too Many People have Died?"
Bob Dylan
For the longest time I have wanted to do something Abroad to help World
Hunger. We had made tentative plans to go to Haiti in January 06. But Haiti
was so dangerous that the U.S. State Department WOULD NOT issue us Visa's.
The Idea of Funding of Drilling Water wells in Africa was that of John
Bell, a Student at the College of William & Mary. John has worked with me at AGFB for three years now. John has also CO-Chaired the Hunger Awareness Task
Force at the college.
1.1 Billion People Worldwide lack safe drinking water
5 Million People Die from Water born Disease each year
There are 300 Million people in need of Water in Africa
John came to me and said he was putting together a group that would Raise
around $4000 to build a well. This well would supply drinking water to
500-1000 People. The well would be Built in the Country of Malawi where only
about 37% of the people have Safe water. The Group building the wells is
called
Church World Service. I came back to John and said that if he could raise the money
by the end of the School year (May 15 ) I would Match it. We would Drill 2
Wells. It Excited me that we would Help 1-2000 people get access to Safe
Drinking Water.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
On April 12, John called to inform me that his group had raised their share of the Funds. Within a week, we sent a check for $7,700.00 to Church World Service
